OUR HISTORY

Birch Living is the insiprational culmination of over fifteen years in the gift and homewares industries for owner, Peter Ellemans.  With a background in science and horticulture, Peter has an employment history as a buyer and manager at some of Melbourne’s best retail nurseries as well as owning and running his own stores in country victoria.  Later Peter moved to the homewares industry as a product developer and buyer in a leading homewares company.  With a wealth of experience behind him, Peter opened his own store Birch Living in the inner city strip shopping precinct of Clifton Hill.

Birch Living offers a stunning, unique and beautiful array of gifts and decor from around the globe, all at affordable prices.  Peter strongly believes “You don’t have to pay big money to achieve the look.  Invest wisely in quality furniture and have fun surrounding yourself with stunning accessories and decorator items”.

Birch Living came about in 2008 after Peter spent some time in the industry, travelling the world sourcing and developing products.  After working most of his working life in retail, Peter missed and yearned for the personal and varied contact of customers, so Birch Living was the result of a culmination of dreams and aspirations.

Birch Living is now known for it’s heady colourful mixes of homewares, gifts, jewellery, candles, toiletries, wall art, lamps and more.  At Birch Living you can scent the home, decorate your living or work spaces, soothe your body, create a calming corner, gift yourself or spoil your friends and family.
